Statement by Nadia Stanley, Executive Producer/Producer
“TALK UP YOUT” TV SHOW | 17th January 2011, 6 pm
I’ve been working in TV production for the past 8 yrs locally and abroad and never has a project inspired me more than Talk Up Yout. I moved back to Jamaica not only to benefit from the beautiful, relaxed environment and to soak in the riveting culture, but I knew that I could make a global difference and help Jamaica advance to the place it rightfully should be in.
What better place than to start with the youth and from a TV producers perspective, what better way than to use the powerful medium of TV to make a positive change. With Talk Up Yout, I made sure to bring across a new age talk show choosing an outdoor set, with different elements to engage the youth such as the graphics, fast camera movement, music, and my favourite Miguel ”Steppa” Williams closing the show. He was added not to add entertainment value but to reach some youths through dub poetry that we might not be able to through dialogue.
First of all, I appreciate all the amazing teens and young adults we met along the way, and although a lot have troubled pasts, by me seeing their resilience, intelligence and warmth I have great hope for the future. Special thanks to the amazing sponsors who saw the vision and were selfless in their support of this venture. Most of all, I would like to thank my business partner Emprezz for all her hard work. Talk Up Yout will soon be a lot bigger than a TV Show and as our slogan says we urge Jamaica to “shatter the silence!”
Stanley & Empress Productions will be coming out with several more projects for 2011 and hopefully all will be as impactful as Talk Up Yout!
